What is Positive Parenting?

This one-hour power point presentation gives a bird’s eye view of the basic foundational principles of Positive Discipline. It seeks to answer the question of how to be both kind and firm at the same time. Participants engage in an interactive exercise with Brene Brown’s Parenting Manifesto from her book “Daring Greatly” to connect emotionally with this style of parenting. Through the acronym ACT: Assessing need, Co-regulation and Connection, and Teach/Problem, participants are introduced to the main 4 strategies for implementing this parenting approach in their home.

The work of Dr. Becky Kennedy, author of “Good Inside,” is highlighted to further elaborate on how to connect and validate feelings while holding firm boundaries. This presentation is designed to pique the interest of participants to learn more and to leave with scripts and resources to begin implementing this parenting approach today.

I enjoy donating my time to offer this presentation free of charge as it aligns with my mission to advocate for the development of healthy parent-child relationships. I have presented to mom’s groups, play-date friends, church organizations, preschools, daycare centers, and employer “Lunch and Learn” series. Reach out to find out more information and join me in sharing this transformative parenting approach to the masses.
