Parent Coaching
Available via Zoom or in person.
Introductory Consultation
I offer a free 45 minute introductory consultation via Zoom or by phone. This is an opportunity for us to explore how I can help you on your parenting journey. I will share some resources with you specific to your topic of concern. You may identify issues which would be better served by mental health therapy rather than coaching. If so, I will refer you a therapist in your area to address your child’s and family’s needs. There is no pressure to set up future sessions. This is my gift to you. It is part of my ethos as a social worker to share information and resources.

45 minutes
Includes 90 minutes, via Zoom or in person, to gather information about your family’s story. I will send a follow up email with a summary of our time together, goals you have identified, and resources specific to your family’s needs. Ongoing Sessions
Includes 60 minutes, via Zoom or in person, and a follow-up email. Our time together will be tailored to the specific goals and needs that you identify for your family. After each session you will receive a follow up email with resources/scripts/video/activities to address the concerns you bring to session.
These sessions can be scheduled every week, every other week, or as needed. We will work to find a time that works best for you. Some parents find it helpful to start off with weekly sessions for several weeks at a time. Yes. Coaching is reflective and educational in nature rather than therapeutic. During coaching sessions, I do not give any mental health diagnosis(s) for either the parent or the child. Coaching is not a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care or substance abuse treatment. I may encourage you to reflect upon your own childhood and to be aware how this may impact your parenting style. If you are currently in therapy, it is recommended to inform your provider that you have started parent coaching. With your written permission, I can collaborate with your therapist if you feel this would be helpful to reach your parenting goals.

There can be many different goals for parent coaching sessions. Some may be long-term, such as improving your relationship with your child(ren) and increasing harmony among family members. Some may be short-term, such as finding resources after your child receives a diagnosis and/or addressing a specific behavior that is challenging for your child and family. Other goals may be more educational, such as learning the major principles and tools of Positive Discipline. And some families may set a goal to “get on the same page” with parenting approaches. My intention is to support you in a way that aligns with your goals and your family’s values.

After each session you will receive a follow up email with resources/scripts/video/activities to address the concerns you bring to session. This could include a list of resources specific to a topic (potty training, ADHD podcasts, or list of play-based ABA centers in your area), scripts to use with your child to address a challenging behavior (hitting, biting, refusal to end screen time), videos (Youtube video about the nervous system and polyvagal theory), or activities (connection-based children’s book to read together during a calm moment to regulate the nervous system.)
-
During parent coaching sessions, I only work with the parent(s) and/or caregivers and do not meet individually with the child(ren). I can, however, assist you in finding a provider in your area to meet individually with your child and collaborate, with your permission, with this team member.

I make every effort, with your permission, to provide information to all members of the childcare team who are willing to join in through Zoom sessions, (synchronous or recorded), written materials, and/or phone calls. Some parents find it helpful to record our session or use AI notes so that they can share with their parenting team.

No, coaching services cannot be reimbursed by an HSA account, as it is not a medical service like therapy. Payment is cash-based and not billed to an insurance company.
